NOUNS - In Urdu each noun possesses a gender. There are two genders, masculine and feminine. There is no easy way to tell the gender of a noun. Depending on its gender and ending, a noun may be modified in the plural and when it's followed by a postposition. Plurals Unfortunately there is no easy way to form plurals in Urdu: there are three patterns of declension for masculine nouns and four for feminine nouns, depending on the ending of the noun. The form of plurals also changes when the noun is followed by a postposition. Feminine Nouns The form of feminine nouns changes according to the ending of the noun. There are two classes of feminine nouns. Masculine Nouns There are three classes of masculine nouns. ADJECTIVES - Adjectives appear in the sentence either directly before the noun they qualify or just before the verb at the end. The order of multiple adjectives is almost always the same as in English. lal = red Voh lal kitab hai. (that red book is) That is a red book. Voh kitab lal hai. (that book red is) That book is red. - Are you enjoying this little grammatical trip to Urdustan?...
