URDU belongs to the same language family as English, the Indo-European family of languages. Many of its grammatical features are fairly similar to concepts which exist in English.
-Subject= noun or pronoun which is generally the focus of the sentence. -Object= noun or pronoun which receives the action of the verb. -Verb= word that denotes some form of action or a state of being. WORD ORDER - The basic structure in Urdu sentences is: Subject + Object + Verb. Mai film dekhuga. (I + film + will-watch.) I will see the film. [dekhuga: A male person is speaking.] Mai jaugi. (I + will-go.) I will go. [jaugi: A female person is speaking.] ARTICLES - No indefinite and definite articles in Urdu. However, sometimes the words for 'one', ek and 'someone, anyone', koi may be translated as 'a' and the word for 'that, she, he' and 'it', voh may be translated as 'the'.
